Our bit of summer fun

Sometimes I read everyone's blogs and start thinking, "We're soooo boring!" We really haven't done much this summer and it is quickly ending. So to remind myself that we have done a few fun things, let me tell you all about them.

We have actually gone up to the mountains once. It wasn't to camp, but just to have lunch and enjoy the cooler weather with my grandma and aunts and a couple cousins. Tori hung out with the aunts while my cousin's little girl and Madeleine had fun together. They pretended sticks they found were actually snakes. A boy one and a girl one. They also had fun throwing rocks into the creek. This picture doesn't show that very well, but Madeleine's pose cracks me up.They also wanted to put their feet in the water and boy were they surprised how cold it was. They were almost in tears.

We also went to the zoo for Matt's work party. The food was alright, but the animals were great. I'm sad to say this was our first trip to to zoo this year. Both girls loved it, and it makes me wish we had gone more often. But the summer isn't over yet!
Madeleine loved the monkeys.
We also did the carousel, and Madeleine was so excited about it! She wouldn't stop smiling.

After that we went to see the real giraffe. We rather enjoy seeing the wildlife, both behind and in front of the fences.

If you ask Madeleine what her favorite part was, she'll tell you the playground. She loved it!

Tori had a good time too.

She was very interested in all of the animals. She loved looking through the glass at this blurry cat. (It really wasn't blurry in person. You could actually tell what it was.)

My favorite part had to be the elephant show. It was fun to actually see an animal doing more than just standing there or sleeping.

We just couldn't get enough of animals after the zoo. So I took the girls to Wheeler Farm. Madeleine loved all the animals.

She loved the wagon ride even more.

Poor Tori sat in her stroller the entire time and often hung out with the empty stollers. She was keeping guard. I won't tell you what she would do to you if you tried to steal one. It's just too much.

But don't worry, she didn't see only stollers. She did have a close encounter with a goose. I wonder what she was thinking? Maybe hoping the goose wouldn't snap off her toes.

So I guess we have had some fun the past month. I don't feel so bad anymore.

Cute girls! But my favorite part of this post is the guy with the green mohawk in the picture of the giraffe. That's seriously scary!

How fun! Day trips can sometimes be a little more enjoyable than overnighters. Especially with babies. (they like their own cribs) Cute new family picture, BTW.

Still time to head for the zoo. The best time is spring and fall when he animals aren't too hot to actually move around.
